Water leak home insurance claims advice – how to recognise a leak.
Sitting to write todays blog, I think about all the recent insurance claims we were called out to . Water insurance claims come to the forefront of my mind.
Firstly, extensive flooding due to weather events leaving homes in disrepair and uninhabitable. Secondly, escape of water claims ranging from leaks in ensuite showers resulting in collapsed ceilings to major underfloor leaks.
Have you had an Escape of Water?
There are many signs to look out for in a domestic water leak home insurance claim. In the insurance industry, this is termed as an “escape of water” claim. Noticing a brownish yellow stain on your ceiling could indicate a leak in your upstairs bathroom or shower or a leaking pipe within your ceiling. Seeing patches of dampness on your walls or skirting boards may well be a sign of a leak under the floor. Loose wall tiles, loose floor tiles and areas of damp on your timber floors can also be signs of a leak.
